Has anyone ever been hit by a meteor?
Yes. In 1954, a woman named Ann Hodges was hit my a meteorite while sleeping on the couch in her home in Sylacauga Alabama.

People had seen the fireball all across the eastern part of the state. So many townsfolk converged on her house, thinking there had been a plane crash, that she was taken to the hospital to escape the tumult.
Cold War tensions led to fear of Soviet involvement, and apparently the police took the stone to the Air Force, which confirmed the opinion of the government geologist who had identified it as a meteorite. It eventually ended up in a local museum, but was returned to Ms. Hodges after she complained “God meant me to have it. it hit me after all.”
My understanding is that later in life, however, she returned it to the museum as a valuable relic of local history.
Do you find this event surreal? Have you ever heard about this case?
