Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest living structure, is dying

I am going to Australia at Christmas time and hope to see it. I pray that we save it because as nature goes, so does the brute animal called the human.

I live so close, The Great Barrier Reef can be snorkelled off shore from Bowen Beaches. It is beautiful and has been damaged for decades from Trawlers, Fishing nets, dredging at Abbott Point and running off of toxic chemicals from farms. There is also the rubbish that people leave behind on our beaches and what is tossed overboard from boats. Please, if you walk along any beach, take something with you to collect litter left behind by ignorant people. You will be amazed at the amount of trash people leave behind! In fact do this wherever you walk, help keep our environment clear of litter. Teach your children to do the same.

Suddenly the Reef is subject to decimation by climate change. There is no mention in the article of the introduction and damage caused by the Crown of Thorns Starfish. Does anyone think that the Reef just popped up,out of the blue and is suddenly going to disappear because of climate change. My dear friends, the climate has been changing from the day the planet was formed. Living structures such as coral reefs have adapted to changes in climate as have every other ecosystem. Live long and prosper.

The impending death of the Reef is a hoax. If you care about the truth,please refer to Dr Peter Ridd,a world authority on the Reef....he frequently debunks theories put forward by climate change theorists and the Australian courts have ruled in his favour regarding his future position at James Cook University......often,lazy scientists attribute the changing health of the Reef to temperature variations.the Reef has survived many bleaching events before now.

I visited the reef in the early nineties. It was so beautiful then!! I've been concerned since I first heard about it's bleaching.

This scare mungering is rediculas,. there are bleachng incidents, but it recovers. Yes, man does damage it, but we are no taking better care of it. and then there is the Crown Of Thorns Starfish which was accidently intoduced and had been a problem since the early 60s.

Bleaching is also caused by cyclones, of which the reef gets a couple of, every cyclone season. Don't believe the fear mongering climate changers

Rarely have I read such a load of rubbish as the above article. The GBR is NOT dying! I repeat: it’s NOT dying! To begin with, climate change is a construct of the UN as part of their introduction of the One World Order. They’ve admitted that publicly, but the sheeple who get all their information from the mainstream media, would never have been made aware of that. Yes, sections of the reef are dying. The reef is composed of coral polyps, which are living organisms. Every living thing dies. Sections of the reef have been dying since time immemorial because it’s designed to. While one particular section is dying, another section is renewing itself. If you want the truth about the GBR, I suggest you look up Dr Peter Ridd. He’s been studying the reef for over 30 years from his base in Townsville. He was a professor at James Cook University in Townsville before he was sacked for publicly disagreeing with overseas scientists who came to Queensland, studied one small section of the reef and made pronouncements similar to those in the badly researched article above, before returning to Europe to spread their false narrative. He took the University to court for unfair dismissal and won. If the reef dying is a fact that can’t be argued, why is the establishment overreacting when someone points out that perhaps that ‘fact’ needs looking at again?

Robert Morgan, I am a Queenslander too... tourist boats won't take you to the damaged section... people want to see the glorious sections, which are now becoming very hard to find, particularly the further North you go.
