Our history has witnessed a lot of great people. Their contribution to the development of humanity cannot be overestimated. We tend to idealize great minds however everyone has their own secrets.
When we hear about the greatest thinkers in history, we usually admire their accomplishments and forget that they were ordinary people with their own shortcomings and problems. There is a widespread misconception that such people have only positive traits and can cope with all the problems because they know a lot. Actually many of them suffered from loneliness, nervous breakdown or were too arrogant.
By the way if you are interested to learn more about life of famous people you'll enjoy reading these facts:
He is considered to be one of the most influential scientists, however, he was not a person easy to talk to. He didn't have friends and wasn't married.
#2 Walt Disney didn't let women to work as animators or do any other creative work.
He believed that there's no use to teach women to do this creative and important job as they can get married and then take parental leave. Besides, his creative workers had their wages delayed. Some of them didn’t receive their checks at all.
ANUNCIO
#3 Karl Marx didn't go to the funerals of his closest people.
Karl Marx is famous for his works in philosophy and especially for the theory of international communism. He was worried about his reputation as a political leader and that made him cruel. Marx was a man of a violent temper. Even though he was very lazy when he had much work to do he could work through the night without any breaks.
There is no exact information about why he didn't attend the funerals of his family members but there are two possible versions why he didn't see his father to his final journey. Some people say he had a toothache, others say he didn't hear the bell as he was sleeping.
#4 Nelson Mandela wasn't as good in his home life as he was on the political stage.
He was a great leader who was immersed in his work. Nelson Mandela showed that there's nothing impossible for people who want to change the world for the better. Working so hard he had no time for his family.
#5 Aristotle
Aristotle is considered one of the most important thinkers and philosophers in history. His influence on human development can't be underestimated. However, he opposed gender equality. Aristotle believed women should raise children, be perfect housewives and have a minimal role in social life. Women were supposed to have less food and obey the husband. But also, he believed that both sexes should have equal rights to education.
Did you know that? Do you know any other facts about these great people? Share in the comments!
Rather dubious'facts' .Marx was living in England as an exile, Mandela spent 27 years in jail, both of which would stop them staying close to their families
It is no suprise to me that Isaac Newton was arrogant and had no friends, I have been told that many people who are at genius levels have very little if any social skills because they are too much into their own heads and information that they have little time for others and have attitudes that reflect that their time is more important to them than enjoying the company of others which would lead to mental and physical isolation from others. Not a shock at all.
Karl Marx lazy? Not likely. Also re. Aristotle- gender equality is a relatively recent concept. If he believed in equal rights to education, he was way ahead of his time.
I believe Disney was a cruel man. He didn’t want women doing anything except staying home and having babies. I read a book about him and he was very much a man who thought women were beneath him!!!
Elsy O. Stromberg, Marx slept his
way through the wealthy, lonely widowed Boston elite who supported him while he did his research on working class at the Boston Public Library. Didn't have much time to actually work himself.Books have been written about this and NPR did a fabulous show on this- and Engals.
It can be lonely for the person who thinks faster than those around him/her, and deeper ; seeing connections where others do not. It can be frustrating too.
Elsy O. Stromberg, I agree...and, if Karl could motor through tasks all night, it didn't make him lazy...maybe just tired the next day and the day after. I know I would be...
You m,issed something here. Find out why John Dalton, the creator of the atomic theory of matter, hasn't one element named after him There is not an element called Daltonium, right?
Mark Griffiths, given the extent of his work and writings, and the fact that he was a very difficult man, I doubt very much that he hung around pubs....with anyone! During the plague, he isolated himself, which was not an uncommon thing to do at that time.
