Many of us think that scientists have all the answers. In case they don't, they can find them. However, despite scientific progress there are some moments in our history that scientists can't explain.
In 1955 all passengers and crew members disappeared without a trace from this merchant vessel. The boat was found in poor condition but it was afloat. However, it is still unknown why those people left the boat and where they could be.
In 1971 scientists found a mummified woman of China’s Han dynasty, Xin Zhui, who died in 163 BC. Her hair was still intact, the skin was soft and there was some blood in her veins. Her body was in an unknown fluid which preserved it.
In 1518 there was a case of dancing mania in Strasbourg, Alsace. People danced in the streets for days without stopping, some of them died. Though several theories were developed to explain this phenomenon, scientists still don't know what caused this mass psychogenic illness.
Harold Edward Holt was the 17th Prime Minister of Australia. On 17 December 1967, he disappeared while swimming. His friends witnessed the moment he swam out into deeper water and suddenly disappeared. It is believed that Holt overestimated his swimming abilities and was taken by a rip current.
There's a thundercloud on the Tiwi Islands in Australia called Hector. It is formed regularly, from September to March. This thundercloud is one of the largest thunderclouds in the world.
The location of Cleopatra’s tomb is still unknown. It is believed that she was buried with her love, Mark Antony. According to historians, the tomb is located somewhere near Alexandria, Egypt.
And what do you think about that? Do you have any interesting facts to share? If so, tell us in the comments below, please!
It should be mentioned that Harold Holt's assistant died a few days larer when his car slammed into a tree. When his car was examined it was discovered that the break line had been cut!!
It's interesting to read about Bermeja Island after hearing about it from my grandpa and his compadre. According to their tale, they landed on it on their way to Cuba in the early 1900's
They say.....that the island which belonged to Mexico increased the international ocean boundary was destroyed by the US in order to reduce the boundary and have access to more international oil rich Waters.....So goes the story.
socialworkerrswa, Like you, I've been interested in the Bermuda Triangle stories all my life. There just doesn't seem to be any reasonable explanation for ALL the mysterious disappearances
No one mentioned Jimmy Hoffa. That’s still a mystery until his body/Skelton is found, if there is one. Even though people think they know what happened to him it’s still a mystery. There is still Amelia Earhart too and the Roanoke Colony. How about the Loch Ness monster very interesting mystery…
I would add the Blue Lake in Mount Gambier to that list. The lake is grey from March until late November, early December, when it suddenly turns to a bright blue. Then in late March, it turns back to grey.
Facts get distorted, places forgotten (how often have you lost something and only found it months or years later, in a safe place you had forgotten about) peoples memories are not perfect and natures relclames her own sometimes rapidly. There are still many discoveries to be made.
The thundercloud is the strangest to me. It's already baffling that they form everyday. But is the shape the same each and every time? Then that is incredible.
